We are excited to announce the 2022 European Instructor Camp! It will begin Friday evening (26 August), continue all day Saturday, and end after a half-day of training on Sunday. If you are local, you won't need to miss work to attend. And if you're flying in, you can return home Sunday afternoon.
Participants are encouraged to attend the entire camp, but those with schedule restrictions may choose to attend Saturday only.
This camp is open to all Legacy Program members (of all ranks) who are age 13 or older. There will be a Legacy certification testing on Saturday for those seeking to earn a collar upgrade or renew their Level 3 certification.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can attend this camp?
The camp is open to anyone in Legacy Program, regardless of rank, who is 13 years old or older.
What equipment will I need?
Most of the training will be "ATA Casual," which means black workout trousers and black ATA T-shirt. You only need your white dobok (uniform) if you are participating in the Legacy certification exam or the black belt testing.
If you own sparring gear, please bring it.
For weapons training, you will choose one of the following: single ssahng jeol bong (nunchucks), double ssahng jeol bong, or jahng bong (bo staff). Please bring the appropriate weapons if you own them. We will have some extras available for those who do not have their own.
Of course, you should also have a water bottle and snacks. There will be a lunch break on Saturday (see the full schedule here).
Where will the camp be held?
The camp will be at STAT Cascais, R. Fernão Lopes 103 1o, 2750-663 Cascais, Portugal
I am traveling from out of Portugal. When should I arrive and leave?
Camp starts at 6:30pm Friday, so you should fly into Lisbon by Friday afternoon. We will finish on Sunday at 12:15pm so you can fly home that afternoon. See the full schedule here.

Can I test for Legacy certification?
Yes, we will have a Legacy test for anyone seeking to earn (or renew) Level 1-3 or Facilitator status. As always, you need your instructor's permission to test. Here are the requirements:

Forms
Be prepared to do any of the forms listed above for your level. We will select one or more forms for you to perform.
Instruction
Before the testing, decide what you will teach. Choose your content (a specific form, for example, or a sparring combination). Choose your attribute. Select a drill you will use to teach that attribute and that content. If you are testing for Level 3, choose your life skill. You will have a few minutes to teach a compressed class, demonstrating all of your teaching skills.
Can I midterm or rank test?
Yes, we will have a black belt testing for 1st through 4th degree black belts. As always, you need your instructor's permission to test. If you are a 4th degree testing for 5th degree, you need pre-approval from ATA headquarters.
If you are a 1st or 2nd degree, you will need to pay the usual fee to your instructor in addition to the 20 € camp testing fee (see Fees above).

Who can attend the Camp Dinner on Saturday?
All camp participants and their spouses or partners are invited to join us for dinner on Saturday at 7:00pm at Zen Sushi Restaurant & Grill in Cascais. The cost is 23 € per person for the buffet, which includes:
- 11 different starters
- 85 varieties of sushi, sashimi and nigiri
- Grilled meats
- Rice
- Drinks (beer, wine, sangria, sodas)
